Seek God
Front Parking Spot – Seek God
This is a big weekend for Christian and Jewish families. Christians around the world will be celebrating Easter, remembering when Jesus rose from the dead, as He said He would (Mark 16:7). In addition, the Jewish faith commemorates the beginning of Passover, the time when the Israelites were freed from Egyptian slavery more than 3,000 years ago (Exodus 12).
Multiple times in the Bible for both the Christian and Jewish faiths, the need for God’s people to seek Him is mentioned. God is there to guide and protect us, by His perfect design. Yet, why do so many people leave God out of their life’s equation and try to navigate it on their own? Deuteronomy 31:11 compares God to an eagle that spreads its wings to protect its young. He wants to protect us if we will only let Him. Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” He is seeking us, but we must have the desire to be found. Allowing Jesus into our lives creates a relationship, which is infinitely more powerful than the legalism of religion, with no relationship.
This Easter season, why not take that step to seek the Lord? Even baby steps are better than no steps at all. Commit to a spiritual growth plan. Dust off your Bible and find a plan to help you to read it. I would suggest an excellent resource, such as the “Bible in One Year” (BIOY) app, offered by Nicky Gumbel, of the HTB church in London. BIOY is a daily reading of the Bible, complete with commentary, connecting each day’s passages to daily life. You can choose to either read the daily passages, or listen to them while driving to work. It is an excellent way to start the day and provides a plan to read the entire Bible in just one year. The more you seek God, the more your relationship with him will grow.
Look for a local church or Bible study to surround yourself with other believers who also want to grow. Take this Easter to visit a church and commit to going more than just on Easter Sunday. Don’t navigate life without God being your pilot. He knows the perfect direction for your life. Seek Him and grow. If you do, you will surely feel the hand of God guiding you daily.
